Angelo Mangiarotti: Sculptural Eros Console in White Carrara Marble, Italy 1971

Angelo Mangiarotti (1921 – 2012)

A beautiful Eros console by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper, in thick white Carrara marble with subtle grey veining. A large ovoid top with a flat back and elliptical front is ingeniously incised with two delicate circular notches, into which are fitted perfectly carved conical legs — the root of the table’s name. An iconic example of the Italian designer’s explorations of jointless, interlocking furniture that push the boundaries of gravity with elegant, modern, and sensuous results.

Italy, 1971.
