Ico Parisi: Rare Pair of Consoles in Mahogany and Ebonized Walnut, Italy 1950’s

$18,500

Ico Parisi (1916 – 1996)

A rare and important pair of sculptural consoles by Ico Parisi, their undulating yet modern curves a culmination of the designer’s organic mode. The top, in polished mahogany, features a striking parabolic arc with a beveled edge, raised on a sinuous base in contrasting ebonized walnut. The gracefully modeled legs, arched and sharply three-dimensional, are united by a pair of delicately interlaced crossbars that serve an aesthetic function while adroitly maximizing the stability of the serpentine base. A beautiful example of Parisi’s exploration of structurally complex shapes and deft construction.

Italy, 1950s.
