Rare Atomic Age Boomerang Desk and Gemini Leather Armchair, France 1970s

$31,000

France, 1970’s

A phenomenal Space Age boomerang desk. A beautifully elongated and angled Formica top cantilevers over a steel column with a spring-loaded compartmentalized drawer, raised on a cast iron base sheathed in original red shag carpeting. Accompanied by a sleek Gemini armchair upholstered in soft black leather, on a white spherical rocking base.

This is a low desk, incredibly comfortable to use with a laptop or keyboard. The top swivels outwards and the chair is adjustable. With its elegantly abstracted organic forms and daring profile, this unique set is a remarkable expression of jet age furniture design, of a piece with Eero Saarinen’s TWA terminal.
