Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte: A Monumental Chandelier in Curved Glass, Italy 1964

$32,500

Max Ingrand (1908 – 1969) for Fontana Arte

A large and important 18-bulb pendant chandelier by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, oblong in shape; in frosted, clear, and colored glass with mirror-polished brass mounts. A long V-shaped body with a rounded base, in frosted glass illuminated by six hidden bulbs which softly diffuse the light and make the glass glow from within, is capped by thick V-shaped mounts in polished brass. Two significant wings, in exquisitely curved colored glass, arch over and around the entire length of the body, creating a beautifully elongated ovoid silhouette. They enclose an additional 12 bulbs. Impressive in size and pure in design, the work stands out in Ingrand’s catalogue for its simplicity and modernity.

Italy, 1964.
